Chicken curry and Prata |
1.5 lbs of chicken drumsticks
2 teaspoons of sanwin a.k.a Turmeric Powder
3 teaspoons of masala
3-4 shallots
3 teaspoons of red chilli powder
3 tablespoons of oil
Directions
Cut 2 slits on each side of the drumsticks.
Marinate the meat with sanwin and a teaspoon of water.
Chop the shallots into thin slices. (The thinner the slices the faster it will cook)
In a big pan (~28cm wide), heat the oil.
When the oil is ready, put the minced shallots.
Stir it for a while till the shallots turn golden, then add chilli powder.
When the color turns red like the chilli, add the meat.
Add about 2-3 cups of water till the drumsticks are half covered.
Add masala and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Turn the meat and let it simmer till the water turns gravy.
Enjoy the curry with steamed rice or roti prata. The secret to make a good gravy is using shallots instead of red onions or any other types of onions. You can find frozen roti prata at the Asian Grocery Stores. You just have to fry it with oil. Feel free to substitute the meat with mutton, beef, pork, etc.
